RPI
RPI by conference
Nonconference = D1 vs D1 results between teams from different conferences (non-D1 opponents aren't in the RPI). Ranks are the current RPI with bonuses. Bad losses = nonconference losses to teams ranked 151+. NC opp # = average current RPI rank of nonconference opponents. Click a conference to filter the RPI table above.

Power rankings
Scores from the NCAA scoreboard, refreshed every 30 seconds while matches are live. TV and streaming from ESPN's listings where available; otherwise check the NCAA match page. Rank = RPI (with bonuses). Win probability from the power ratings, listed home team at home.
How our picks did preview
A pick is the team with the higher pregame win probability. Each day's predictions come from a model rebuilt with only the matches charted before that day, so nothing about the result leaks in. Listed home team at home. Days are match days (dates with D1 results).
Team trajectory Power rank and RPI rank (with bonuses) at the end of each week · higher on the chart is better
Stat trends by week
Each week = the matches played Monday through Sunday. Green cells beat the D1 average, red trail it; the stronger the shade, the further from average. Opponent and error stats are flipped so green is always good. Box scores from the scout files, so the latest matches appear once the files are in.
Hot and cold teams
Recent window vs everything before it, for teams with the minimum matches on both sides. Small samples swing, so treat one-week moves as noise unless they match what you've seen on film.
Biggest movers
Top 25 by week current top 25 · rank at the end of each week
Each week is rebuilt from the results available through that Sunday, so earlier weeks never change when new data arrives. The last column is the latest update. Power ranks need 3+ matches. Definitions in the Glossary →
Where the NCAA tournament field stands if the rest of the season plays out like our power ratings expect. Every remaining D1 match is simulated, the field is picked and seeded each time by the selection manual's rules, and the most likely bracket is shown below. Updated with each day's results.
Projected bracket
Bids by conference
Projected = teams in the projected bracket above. Expected = sum of each team's chance to make the field, so it counts partial chances (a bubble team at 60% adds 0.6). Seeds = teams seeded 1–16 in the projection. Bubble teams = teams with a 20–80% chance to make the field, with that chance and whether they are in (in) or out (out) of the projected bracket; click the column to sort by how many a league has. AQ favorite = most likely automatic qualifier. Leagues that award the bid through a conference tournament (all but the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and WCC) have that tournament simulated: the top teams by conference record are seeded into a bracket and played out with the power ratings, so upsets and bid stealers are part of the odds. Once a tournament is over, its champion is locked in from the results (or name it in data/aq_conferences_2026.csv).

- Expected FBSO: the D1 first-ball sideout rate for each pass grade, weighted by the team's pass mix. Measures pass quality in sideout terms.
- xFBSO (S)
- The same, for the opponent's passes off this team's serve. Lower = tougher serve.

- D1 avg
- National efficiency for that combo and phase, shown in grey.
- Share
- That combo's share of the team's swings in the phase.
Setting
- Set att
- Set attempts by the player.

Players
- Position
- Inferred from touch mix, not a roster: S = mostly sets; L/DS = no attacking or blocking; MB = block-heavy with little reception; OPP/MB = attacks and blocks, no reception; Pin = everyone else.
- Recs
- Receptions.
- Eff / K % off set
- For liberos and DS: attacking results on swings off their sets.
Team ratings
- Scale
- 40–99. Each metric is opponent-adjusted (team and opponent effects solved together, so schedule strength is credited), z-scored against D1 teams with 3+ matches, and placed on the scale: up to 80 it follows the normal curve (70 = D1 average), and above 80 it stretches so that 99 takes about 3 standard deviations above average. Only a truly elite team reaches the high 90s.
- Attacking
- FBSO swing eff, in-system eff, medium eff, out-of-system eff, transition eff.
- Serving
- xFBSO (S), KO %, ace %, serve error %.
- Passing
- xFBSO, good pass % (R# / R+), reception error %, pass rating — equally weighted.
- Setting
- 0–1 blocker %, in-system eff off a set, medium-pass eff off a set, set error %.
- Blocking
- Stuff %, opponent FBSO eff allowed, INSABE, OOSABE, good block touch % (B# + B+ over all block attempts) — equally weighted.
- Digging
- Dig quality (xD K %), Create, opponent transition eff allowed.
- Overall
- Weighted blend of the six components; weights are refit each update as the regression of the power net rating on the components.
- Pwr #
- Power rank. Overall is a skills score and power is a points-won outcome; a gap means over- or under-performing the profile.
- ▲ ▼ (ratings)
- Change from the previous week: every rating is recomputed from the matches through last Sunday, with the same Overall weights, and compared with today's.
- Raw / n
- On the Team page, grey is the unadjusted season value and n is the number of attempts behind it.
Power rankings & projections
- Net
- Opponent-adjusted sideout rating minus opponent-adjusted sideout allowed, in points per 100 receptions, with home court removed and small samples regressed to the D1 mean.
- SO rating / SO allowed
- The two halves of Net.
- SOS
- Average Net of opponents faced.
- Form
- Average of the last 10 matches' net sideout relative to what the ratings expected. Positive = playing above rating lately.
- Last 10
- Record in the last 10 matches (NCAA committee window).
- Win prob
- From the same ratings: point-win rates receiving and serving → rally-scoring sets (25, win by 2; set 5 to 15) → best of five.
- ▲ ▼
- On the RPI page, the change in rank since the team's previous match. Elsewhere, movement since the previous data update.
Trends
- Weekly rank
- Power and RPI (with bonuses) recomputed from only the results through each Sunday.
- Movers
- Change in rank from the chosen week to the latest update. ▲ = moved up.
- Stat trends
- A team's box-score rates for the matches played each week (Monday–Sunday), its season-to-date line, and the D1 average. Rates are pooled (total kills ÷ total attempts, etc.), not averages of match percentages.
- Hot / cold
- The chosen stat over the recent window vs every match before it. Opponent efficiency and error rates are flipped so "heating up" always means better.
RPI
- RPI
- 0.25 × win % + 0.50 × opponents' win % + 0.25 × opponents' opponents' win %. D1 games only; opponents' records exclude games against the team.
- RPI (adj)
- NCAA volleyball bonuses/penalties: wins vs 1–25 +2 positions, 26–50 +1; losses vs 288–312 −1, vs 313+ or non-D1 −2; nonconference schedule ≥50% top-75 +2, ≥50% 263+ −2.
- RPI futures
- 1,000 simulated seasons of the remaining schedule using the win model, with RPI recomputed each time.
- Highlights
- Gold = win vs current top 25; blue = win vs 26–50.
- RPI by conference
- Average RPI (with bonuses) of a conference's teams, how many sit in the top 25/50/100, and its nonconference D1 record, split by the opponent's current RPI rank. Bad losses = nonconference losses to teams ranked 151+.
